T A I - P E N G
Taiping comes from the Chinese word Tai-Peng which means ETERNAL PEACE.(I quote from other blog)...when u come to visit Taiping, you'll know how & why that word suit for the place...we entered Taiping @ about 6.30pm from Bagan Serai...we were awing by beautiful colonial shop-houses and serene lakeside...
Saturday:
We checked-in at Furama Hotel...the hotel located near Taiping Lake...the name may sound like Japanese-Chinese word fusion, but the condition is nice & clean...the Furama people are friendly & helpful...after we had our solat, we planned to have dinner @ Kuala Sepetang which is not that far from Taiping...i’ll explain more on Kuala Sepetang in the next entry...
Our trip more likely a gastronomic/heritage journey...back from Kuala Sepetang @ 8.00, we were planning to go to Doli (famous kueteow goreng in Taiping)...but God, we were already full...so we’ve decided to do a city-tour to experience Taiping @ night...accidently, without any sense of direction, we arrived at Taiping Train Station...we took some photos there and later we got thirsty...across the railway building, there is a row of food stalls...we had our drinks & late supper there...it was a great meal...we had roti canai, putu mayam & teh tarik (typical mamak menu) @ restoran berkat...the restaurant itself is a heritage legacy, we think because it looks and feel like good old days...we give this late supper-experience with 6 thumbs up(because there were 3 of us)...

We heard about the famous night safari @ Zoo Taiping...actually we didn’t plan about going there at all...we manage to enter the parking area only because we happened to be at Taiping Lake Garden...we were totally tired & got back to hotel...arrived in front of Furama, there was a small karaoke fiesta nearby...i think it was Chinese family or society celebration...they sang a Malay song but in Chinese language...sound interesting & entertaining...
