DURIAN - THE EPIC FRUIT

entry kali ni nk cerita pasal DURIAN...secara jujurnya, aku bukan peminat durian...dari time bebudak dulu mmg x suke durian nih....rasa die mcm mkn custard dh expired...bau x payah ckp la....OMG....x niat nk kecilkan kelebihan durian ni....bg mereka yg suke, harap anda bahagia...

masa kami sekeluarga tinggal kat Setiawan, Perak, ade satu tragedi pasal durian ni....seingat aku, aku berumur dlm 4-5 tahun...kepala cedera akibat terkena DURIAN...tragedi tu berlaku kat pasar malam....ade makhluk ni bwk durian sambil hayun2 kan buah tu...mayb die gembira sbb dpt mkn durian kot....aku plak masa tu rendah je...apelagi hayunan tu terkena kat kepala ...lebih kurang la mcm gamba diatas...makhluk tu pulak lari dr tmpt kejadian...at least, say sorry ke...tp aku dh maafkan...mayb sbb tu kot fobia ngan durian...

PELIK TETAPI BENAR...

walaupon ak x suke makan buah durian, tempoyak adalah makanan kegemaran...unexplainable but that's the truth...ak phm situasi tempoyak ni...it is fermented durian!!!...bau & rasa durian tu hampir xde kalau dh jd tempoyak...cuma yg tinggal adelah tekstur custard & rasa2 lemak...aroma die ade sket mcm durian tp totally different & delicious aroma...

TEMPOYAK GORENG
teringat dulu pernah makan tempoyak goreng ikan bilis kt rumah member....perghhh...terbaek....sebelum ni cume sambal tempoyak ngan ulam je...sekali kene, mmg sedappp...ni ade resepi dr blog...ak rasa yg sama la kot resepi nih...

 TEMPOYAK IKAN PATIN
the best gulai tempoyak ikan patin ni yg penah ak makan adalah kat temerloh...lg spesifik kat R&R Temerloh...makan pulak dgn nasi putih panas...ade ulam-ulaman sket...perghhh...ni resepi gulai tempoyak ikan patin pulak...

Bahan:-
  • 1 ekor ikan patin sederhana besar - kerat ikut suka
  • (*gaul dan rendam sebentar dengan garam kasar dan limau nipis - cuci bersih)
  • 2 - 2 1/2 cawan tempoyak - sedang2 masamnya
  • 10 - 12 biji cili padi - ditumbuk
  • 2 ulas bawang putih - tumbuk
  • 2 cm kunyit hidup - tumbuk
  • 6 tangkai pucuk daun kesum
  • 2 kuntum bunga kantan - belah 2
  • 1/2 biji timun taun - belah 2 (*xperlu buang kulit tp buang biji) dan kerat 1cm
  • air secukupnya
  • garam
Cara Memasak:-
Dalam periuk, masukkan secawan air dulu bersama tempoyak, cili, kunyit dan bawang putih. Gaul rata dan masak sebentar atas api perlahan, biar cili agak masak. Kemudian masukkan timun taun. Masak hingga separuh empuk. Masukkan daun kesum dan bunga kantan, tambah lagi air (*jangan terlampau banyak, biar agak pekat). Biar mendidih sikit, masukkan ikan dan garam dan perlahankan api. (*jangan dikacau sangat ikan ni, nanti hancusss..) Bila mendidih, tutup api.
THE OTHER SIDE OF DURIAN...

DURIAN BERULASKAN MANUSIA...SERAM PLAK

T  A  I   -  P  E  N  G

Taiping comes from the Chinese word Tai-Peng which means ETERNAL PEACE.(I quote from other blog)...when u come to visit Taiping, you'll know how & why that word suit for the place...we entered Taiping @ about 6.30pm from Bagan Serai...we were awing by beautiful colonial shop-houses and serene lakeside...

Saturday:

We checked-in at Furama Hotel...the hotel located near Taiping Lake...the name may sound like Japanese-Chinese word fusion, but the condition is nice & clean...the Furama people are friendly & helpful...after we had our solat, we planned to have dinner @ Kuala Sepetang which is not that far from Taiping...i’ll explain more on Kuala Sepetang in the next entry...

Our trip more likely a gastronomic/heritage journey...back from Kuala Sepetang @ 8.00, we were planning to go to Doli (famous kueteow goreng in Taiping)...but God, we were already full...so we’ve decided to do a city-tour to experience Taiping @ night...accidently, without any sense of direction, we arrived at Taiping Train Station...we took some photos there and later we got thirsty...across the railway building, there is a row of food stalls...we had our drinks & late supper there...it was a great meal...we had roti canai, putu mayam & teh tarik (typical mamak menu) @ restoran berkat...the restaurant itself is a heritage legacy, we think because it looks and feel like good old days...we give this late supper-experience with 6 thumbs up(because there were 3 of us)...

PUTU MAYAM - THE BEST EVER...

THE LAST MEAL OF THE DAY < GREAT>
TAIPING TRAIN STATION - UNDER CONSTRUCTION

WARONG BERKAT HAJI IBRAHIM - ACROSS TRAIN STATION

We heard about the famous night safari @ Zoo Taiping...actually we didn’t plan about going there at all...we manage to enter the parking area only because we happened to be at Taiping Lake Garden...we were totally tired & got back to hotel...arrived in front of Furama, there was a small karaoke fiesta nearby...i think it was Chinese family or society celebration...they sang a Malay song but in Chinese language...sound interesting & entertaining...

TAIPING ZOO

Sunday:

we checked out early that morning...planned to have breakfast @ Bismillah...it is famous mamak eatery @ Taiping...the building itself shows its reputation...it was already packed with customer when we arrived...it was a different feeling from any mamak eatery i've been before...although it quite narrow and hassle with staff & customer, i didn't felt uncomfortable...

THE ONE & ONLY - BISMILLAH RESTAURANT
TEA LADY
AUTHENTIC 'TEH TARIK' WITH ITS COMPANIONS - ROTI CANAI
the best thing about teh tarik here is they use original authentic cow's milk...tasty & unforgettable...from where we were sat, we saw a woman preparing the milk...we ate roti kosong, roti telor, half boiled eggs and the famous daging masak hitam (only the gravy)...it was heavenly delicious...we gave 5/5 stars...

MEAT SECTION
TAIPING WET MARKET
NON-HALAL SECTION
across the road from Bismillah, there is a an old wet market...it was like 'heart' of Taiping...everybody was there to be part of it...next to it was a clock tower...the landscape is well maintain...there were sections of market...fish...meat & vegetables...non-halal product...food court...all in walking distance...we kept walking around the town...inspired by its architecture...felt honored to be part of this heritage...

BUKIT LARUT @ MAXWELL HILL
GREEN WALK
AFTER A  WHILE HIKING, 8KM MORE TO GO TO THE TOP...NO!!!
next stop is "Maxwell Hill" or "Bukit Larut"...it was quite an incredible place...there is a 4WD service to go to the top of hill...little that we knew that it was a long journey...we came late so the tickets were sold out...we decided to hike while enjoying the nature...but we surrendered...we had to get moving to other place...

Mee Banjir Udang Kuala Sepetang

M E E  B A N J I R  U D A N G

sudah tiba masanya untuk kami merasa mee udang yg telah digembar-gemburkan...kami sampai di kuala sepetang mmg dh agak petang...sblm singgah makan mee udang nih, sempat la singgah kat kilang arang kuala sepetang...mmg best...

sempat jugak lah beramah tamah ngan pakcik2 yg keje kat situ...kami pon tanyalah pakcik2 ni pasal mee udang...dieorg ckp yg famous kat sini gerai Mak Teh & Mak Jah...tp dieorg x leh nk komen rasa mee udang tu sbb dieorg x penah makan kat situ...katanye lebih ske makan di rumah sbb dieorg mmg senang nk dpt fresh seafood kat situ...so kami pon nk coba lah mee udang...

MEE BANJIR UDANG KUALA SEPETANG
secara jujurnya, rasanya tidaklah setanding reputasinya...sebaliknya menghampakan...mcm hirup air rebusan udang...timbul tanda tanya kenapa sume org mcm terpanggil nk makan mee udang ni...tp dari segi portion udang utk satu hidangan, mmg banjir ngan udang...udang mmg fresh la...kiteorg cume order udang kolam/bela-RM6...kalau udang tangkap, boleh mencecah RM12...almost twice but seriously kuah die kene upgrade lg...

NASI GORENG UDANG KUALA SEPETANG
yang ni pulak nasi goreng udang...harga sama mcm mee udang (harga berdasarkan jenis udang)...nmpk brader meja seblh makan mcm sedap & menarik...so ak pon order la sepggn...nasi goreng tu mcm dah siap masak...rasa mmg x sedap...udang tu bkn digoreng bersama nasi, tp direbus dan hidang sekali ngan nasi goreng tu...ape lah salahnye infuse udang tu dlm gorengan nasi tersebut...x paham temannn...

VIEW GERAI DR SEBERANG JALAN

LOKASI GERAI MEE UDANG - NEXT TO COMM.  TOWER
overall view utk mee udang banjir kuala sepetang nih, hmmmm...edible but seriously need lots of improvement...no offend utk mereka2 yg mmg suke mee udang ni...ni cume pendapat kami yg merasa...kat sini kami cuma dpt bg 1/5 bintang...diharap kalau pihak yg terlibat terbaca komen nih, take it positive and improve la ape2 yg patut...
